Day 1: January 5 Arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport

You will be warmly welcomed and greet you your guide at Bole International airport and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight stay, Addis Ababa.

Day 2: January 6 Fly to Lalibela

After breakfast, your flight will take you to Lalibela. After a short break, start visiting the northern cluster rock-hewn churches of Lalibela hewn out from a single rock and the first groups of churches which comprises six churches namely  Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael and Bet Golgotha.

In the evening, you will attend the Christmas Eve ceremony to be held at Bete Mariam church with the presence of tens of thousands of pilgrimage from different parts of the globe. Overnight, Lalibela

Day 3: January 7 Fullday in Lalibela

Early morning you will be transferred to the churches to attend the morning colorful mass celebration. After breakfast and a short break, visit the Southeastern Cluster of churches – Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Abba Libanos. Finally, visit the most famous of all the churches – Bet Giyorgis, a huge monolith in the shape of a cross, and constructed in honor of St. George, the patron saint of Ethiopia and the king of all churches. Day 4: January 8 Fly to Bahirdar to Visit Lake Tana Monasteries

Early morning, a short flight will take you to Bahirdar. Upon arrival, you will be NEWS by our tour guides, drive to a hotel where you will check and after breakfast, you will take a boat cruise over lake Tana to visit the most ancient and marvelous Ethiopian orthodox churches with variety species of aquatic birds and fish and hippo.  In the afternoon, you will drive about 32km to visit the spectacular Blue Nile waterfall. Day 5: January 9: Drive and Visit the Fassiladas Castles

You will be driven to Gondar, Right after breakfast by admiring the breathtaking scenery. There you will check into a hotel and after a short break, you will visit the Royal Castles built in the 17th Century A.D. that is surrounded by high stone walls containing and explore the royal enclosure with six lofty castles built by different emperors for a different purpose. After lunch, proceed to visit Debre Birhan Selassie well known for its elaborately decorated wall paintings and visit the swimming pool of Emperor Fasiledes. Overnight in Gonder

Day 6: January 10: Drive to Semien Mountain National Park

After early Breakfast, drive to Debark, a small town considered to be the main gate for the park and where we start the entrance process for the park. On the way, you will visit Felasha Village home of black Jews and different outstanding views. After lunch, you will continue driving further to the park with organized crews like cooks, scout, local guides and horsemen. On this day you will have a chance to enjoy a trek for two to three hours trekking with troops of Chelada Baboons and overnight Sankaber campsite

Day 7: January 11: Trek to Gich

After you restore your energy with good breakfast, continue down the main route, taking time to look down the 1000m valley on your left and enjoy the spectacular jinbar-wenz waterfalls, walk through Giant Loblia valley to Saha enjoying a fascinating scenery and views and go up to Gich for overnight. Day 8: January 12: Trek to Chenek

On this day you may walk for about 8-9 hours depending on your physical fitness. After breakfast, continue your walking to visit Imit-Gogo 3900m asl, with a variety of views and keep walking through one of the best routes to witness the rich wildlife. (additional trekking options are available on request).  Overnight Chenek Campsite.

Day 9: January 13: Drive to Axum

Before breakfast, do walk up to the mountain for an hour and you will visit troops Walia Ibex and back to the campsite for breakfast. Then, continue driving to Axum via Debarik, and on the way, you will enjoy scenic views of Limalimo and Tekeze river and upon arrival, you will visit Obelisks of Axum, archaeological sites and Swimming pools of the queen of Sheba. Day 10: January 14: Drive From Axum to Mekele

After early breakfast, drive to Gehralta cluster to climb up Mariam Korkor church, one of exciting rock church in Gehralta settlement with geometrically perfect domes and ceilings located on top of a cliff. After lunch and a short break, continue driving to Mekele admiring spectacular landscapes of Tigrai region.  Overnight Mekele

Day 11: January 15: Drive to Hamedila via Berhale

After breakfast, Drive to Hamedla via Berhale a small town where we will prove the permit letter to visit Afar region and you will spend a couple of hours enjoying your lunch, then continue driving to Hamedla where you can enjoy a camel caravan during the evening with a beautiful sunset.  Overnight, Hamedila Campsite

Day 12: January 16: Drive to Erta-ale

in the morning drive to Dallol, the lowest depression in the world with full of geological wonders and visit the beautiful and colored landscapes formed by volcanic activity. Then ion your way you will visit Lake Asale, where you will attend the activities of the local people breaking the salt into rectangular pieces and loading on camels back to transport Mekele. After quick lunch proceeds to Erta-ale through one of the worst lava roads and after early dinner at Dodom, trek up to Erta-Ale for about three to four hours depending on your fitness. Camels will transport your camping materials, foods and drinks. Now you can spend a peaceful night admiring the beautiful nature and the actions of the volcano. Camping on Erta-ale Mountain

Day 13: January 17: Drive to Mekele

Start walking down to Dodom, to enjoy your breakfast. On the way back you Mekele, should you enjoy your picnic lunch at one of Afar village?. After relaxing proceed to Mekele to catch up your evening flight to Addis.

Day 14: January 18: Fullday Addis Abeba

after breakfast, you will have a full day city tour of Addis Ababa and visiting key attractions of the city like National Museum “house of Lucy”, “Holy Trinity Cathedral” final resting place of Emperor Haileselase”. After lunch you will have the golden opportunity to attend and witness eve of Timket (Epiphany) ceremony called Ketera where the authorized priests take out the Tabot (replica of the Ark of the Covenant) from its normal residence to the ceremony center where the next days celebration will take a place and it will be accompanied with great procession. After the celebration, you will walk back to your hotel. Overnight Addis Abeba

 

 

Day 15, January 19: Fullday Addis Abeba

In the morning session, you will attend early morning prayers and baptism ceremony by high ranking church officials and after they blessed the water with their cross, and spray on assembled congregation to make sure that we are clean from our sins because of the baptism. At 10:00 o’clock the Tabot will start moving back from the ceremony ceneter to the normal residence with music and dance.

In the afternoon you will continue visiting Entoto Historical Museum ” home of historical relics in the battle of Adwa” Mercato”  Biggest outdoor market in East Africa” and Ethnological Museum “former palace of Emperor Haileselase” finally you will be taken to a farewell dinner arranged at one of the very best cultural restaurants where you can attend a live performance with superb Ethiopian food.

After dinner, you will be transferred out to Bole International Airport for return flight back home. Have a safe flight
